The CDC’s Mask Mandate Study: Debunked

En face, CDC’s conclusion on mandates might appear to make sense unless one is familiar with the scientific data pertaining to the ineffectiveness of masking for prevention of the spread of Covid-19 in which case the findings in fact contradict most of what is now known. The CDC’s conclusion might have made more sense if the real-world evidence we have about mandates did not actually exist.

“It would appear that minimum contamination can best be achieved by not wearing a mask at all” and that wearing a mask during surgery “is a standard procedure that could be abandoned.” I was so amazed that I scoured the medical literature, sure that this was a fluke and that newer studies must show the utility of masks in preventing the spread of disease. But to my surprise the medical literature for the past forty-five years has been consistent: masks are useless in preventing the spread of disease and, if anything, are unsanitary objects that themselves spread bacteria and viruses.

. . . individuals should know that there is no known benefit arising from wearing a mask in a viral respiratory illness epidemic, and that scientific studies have shown that any benefit must be residually small, compared to other and determinative factors.

Face masks, lies, damn lies, and public health officials: “A growing body of
evidence”

by Denis Rancourt

A vile new mantra is on the lips of every public health official and politician in the global campaign to force universal masking on the general public: “there is a growing body of evidence.” . . . In short, I argue: op-eds are not “evidence”, irrelevance does not help, and more bias does not remove bias. Their mantra of “a growing body of evidence” is a self-serving contrivance that impedes good science and threatens public safety.

Of Masks and Men: No Clear Evidence Masks Are Effective in COVID-19

My overall conclusion based on the body of evidence, is that there is no conclusive evidence to support the use of masks for COVID-19 (except N-95 type masks in a hospital setting and when appropriately utilized) and in fact masking appears to carry substantial risks to the user

It is also clear that masks serve symbolic roles . . . they are also talismans that may help increase health care workers’ perceived sense of safety, well-being, and trust in their hospitals. Although such reactions may not be strictly logical, we are all subject to fear and anxiety, especially during times of crisis. One might argue that fear and anxiety are better countered with data and education than with a marginally beneficial mask . . .

The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford University summarized six international studies which “showed that masks alone have no significant effect in interrupting the spread of ILI or influenza in the general population, nor in healthcare workers.” Oxford went on to say “that despite two decades of pandemic preparedness, there is considerable uncertainty as to the value of wearing masks.” They prophetically warned that this has “left the field wide open for the play of opinions, radical views and political influence.”

An Evidence-Based Scientific Analysis of Why Masks are Ineffective, Unnecessary, and Harmful

Advocates for mask mandates simply don’t have the highest-levels of scientific evidence to support their arguments. They can only cite low-level science – retrospective observational studies.

As you will learn from the material that follows, the evidence for and against masks should not be confusing. The evidence is clear, masks are ineffective, unnecessary, and harmful.

Face masks should not be worn by healthy individuals to protect themselves from acquiring respiratory infection because there is no evidence to suggest that face masks worn by healthy individuals are effective in preventing people from becoming ill.

. . . not only do face masks fail to protect the healthy from getting sick, but they also create serious health risks to the wearer. The bottom line is that if you are not sick, you should not wear a face mask.

The importance of these findings is that a drop in oxygen levels (hypoxia) is associated with an impairment in immunity . . . This sets the stage for contracting any infection, including COVID-19 and making the consequences of that infection much graver. In essence, your mask may
very well put you at an increased risk of infections and if so, having a much worse outcome.

The Risks vs. Benefits of Face Masks – Is There an Agenda?

The risk is greater than the benefit (except in a medical setting):

  • Face masks do not protect the wearer from transmission by others
  • Face masks restrict the elimination of virus, recirculating the virus into the nasal/sinus and upper respiratory passages
  • Wearing a face can cause headaches and reduce oxygen levels
  • Wearing a face mask causes one to re-breathe the carbon dioxide (CO2), that the lungs are attempting to expel
  • Wearing a face mask can increase your risk of infections
  • Wearing face masks is a constant reminder that we should fear this invisible enemy or “monster” as some politicians have called it

Brain Damage From Masks CANNOT BE REVERSED

James Fetzer

Covid-19 masks are a crime against Humanity and child abuse

For children and adolescents, masks are an absolute no-no . . . To deprive a child’s or an adolescent’s brain from oxygen, or to restrict it in any way, is not only dangerous to their health, it is absolutely criminal. Oxygen deficiency inhibits the development of the brain, and the damage that has taken place as a result CANNOT be reversed

“It seems kind of intuitively obvious that if you put something—whether it’s a scarf or a mask—in front of your nose and mouth, that will filter out some of these viruses that are floating around out there,” says Dr. William Schaffner, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University. The only problem: that’s not likely to be effective against respiratory illnesses like the flu and COVID-19. If it were, “the CDC would have recommended it years ago,” he says. “It doesn’t, because it makes science-based recommendations.”

In conclusion, … It is necessary to quantify the complex interactions that may well be operating between positive and negative effects of wearing surgical masks at population level. It is not time to act without evidence.

Wearing face masks was not be left to individual discretion. People have not been educated to face mask hazards and many mistakenly believe that wearing them will protect themselves as well as others from COVID-19. They fear that the failure to use them will be taken as irrational defiance of authority or lack of concern for others. Some people view the wearing of masks as a sign of their virtue; but others feel they it is a sign of conformity to overzealous government control.

Comment of Dr. Michael Ryan: It does have benefit psychologically, socially and there are social norms around that and we don’t criticise the wearing of masks and have not done so but there is no specific evidence to suggest that the wearing of masks by the mass population has any particular benefit. In fact there’s some evidence to suggest the opposite in the misuse of wearing a mask properly or fitting it properly or taking it off and all the other risks that are otherwise associated with that.

Adverse Health Effects

Review of scientific reports of harms caused by face masks, up to February 2021

Summary: It is a testimony to the power of propaganda, institutional capture, and the desire to socially conform that masking of the general population has successfully been imposed during the COVID-19 era. The harms from this imposition are palpable, and potentially long-term and gargantuan, not the least of which is the psychological training of the public to comply with an absurd measure that has direct personal negative impact. I review the mounting evidence of the obvious: Universal masking harms people and society, without any detectable benefit.
